Job Description:

This position will support Concrete Placing Company, Inc.’s paving division. The Superintendent’s duties include planning, coordinating, and supervising concrete paving field operations. The paving Superintendent also provides technical direction and is responsible for overall quality of work. The candidate will supervise one or more field foremen. Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience supervising concrete paving,
  • -or- 3-5 years paving foreman experience,
  • -and/or- technical training or other related experience.
    • Wireless control and surveying knowledge is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction
    • Including:  technology, equipment, methods, negotiations, engineering, cost controls, schedules, and safety.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and communicate performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training.
    May conduct Employee Reviews.  Must make hiring, disciplinary, and/or termination decisions.
  • Develop and manage the construction plan for the successful execution of the work.  Coordinates the means and methods, manpower, equipment and material resources required to accomplish this plan.
  • Use available reports to accurately record the receipt of all material purchases and deliveries.
  • Prepares the Weekly Progress Report in coordination with the appropriate people.
  • Manage costs and prepare accurate cost projections.
  • Help prepare the original CPM Project Schedule. Coordinate incremental schedules with the Field Foreman, Subcontractors, and other appropriate people for monthly updates.
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.  Review short duration schedule responsibilities.
  • Prepare daily field schedules.
  • Review the Procurement Schedule and identify items which could cause detrimental schedule problems for the project. Research alternatives for the Project Manager’s approval.
  • Coordinate the documentation of design conflicts and clarifications with the appropriate owner and company personnel.
  • Coordinate and perform the timely completion of all punch lists and develop a schedule as required for the successful turnover to the owner.
  • Provide feedback to estimators for use in future bidding or negotiations.
  • Support Company efforts to obtain new work by remaining alert to business opportunities and sharing information with appropriate Company personnel.
  • Participate in activities to support the Company’s strategic planning efforts and/or improve specific business or construction processes.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly project safety meetings to maintain a safe jobsite. Superintendent shall maintain a safe job site by thorough inspection, guidance, and strict adherence to the Company Safety Policy, The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA).
  • Travel is necessary.

  • Concrete Placing Company, Inc. (CPC) provides concrete paving for various projects from local roads, intersections, interstate highways, and airfield paving.  We work primarily in the western United States.  We provide hands on training an doffer the opportunity for advancement.  We provide a complete benefit package including vacation, 401k & health insurance.  Travel is necessary in all positions.  Each project is approximately 3-8 months in duration.  Once a project is complete, we relocate our operation to another project.
